Title: Business Analyst
Description: The Association of American Publishers | AAP seeks a talented individual to serve as Business Analyst in the office of the President and CEO. The position will interact with all parts of the organization, including the President and CEO's direct reports, the offices of AAP's Board of Directors, and AAP's member companies. AAP is the leading trade association for the U.S. publishing industry and has some 200 publisher members as well as affiliates and coalition partners.

No prior professional experience is required, but a successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree and be able to demonstrate the intellectual curiosity, business acumen, organizational abilities, attention to detail, and communications skills that are necessary to help manage the day-to-day operations of the organization. S/he must be results-oriented and discrete, and able to master a variety of business software applications. Duties include providing administrative support for executive meetings, programs and policy initiatives, assisting with business accounts and financial reports, coordinating with contractors or vendors, conducting research, and participating on project teams. The position may include occasional travel.

The Business Analyst is a hands-on position that offers a close-up view of business and policy leadership and is excellent training for more senior duties involving financial planning, analysis, or execution, as well as mission driven governance and administration.

AAP's members include the leading publishers of books, research journals, and education solutions. Located in Washington DC, the office is a fast-paced environment in which lawyers, policy experts, and communications specialists work on matters that arise before Congress, government agencies, the courts, and intergovernmental organizations, including, especially, copyright law, free speech, technology policy, competition policy and free trade negotiations. AAP administers industry statistics programs, newsletters, and professional development meetings, and works within a number of national and international partnerships and coalitions that involve the creative and information industries.
