About the AAP's Diversity / Recruit and Retain Committee
The AAP Recruit and Retain Task Force was formed in 2000 in order to find ways to attract high-caliber employee candidates to the book publishing industry and, once hired, retain them. In 1999, the AAP Committee on Diversity was established to recommend strategies, policies, and programs within AAP to help the industry become more inclusive by attracting, recruiting, and developing larger numbers of employees from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds for core positions in publishing houses. Recognizing the crossover of their goals, the Recruit and Retain Task Force and the Committee on Diversity merged in 2002.
