Description: SFU Summer Publishing Workshops Book Editing Immersion Workshop

Description: This intensive workshop gives participants the opportunity to learn from some of Canada's top book editors. Each faculty advisor provides her group with an original manuscript for a published or soon-to-be published book. Participants act as the manuscript editor and over the course of the week they learn how to evaluate manuscripts, organize content with the audience in mind, develop successful working relationships with authors, and edit text for clarity and style. In addition to teaching editing skills, faculty will review how editing fiction differs from editing non-fiction, what editors should know about design, and how editors can help sell books.
