Company Name: MONACELLI PRESS, THE
Description: The Monacelli Press is seeking a savvy, creative intern to work part-time March–August in our publicity and marketing department. This internship is ideal for a recent grad or current college student looking to gain experience in book publishing and learn hands-on strategies and programs that move the sales needle. The Monacelli Press is an independent leading publisher of books on architecture, art, interior design, gardens, landscape architecture, photography, fashion, and graphic design.

Duties include:
• Assist with publicity mailings, event coordination, and award nominations
• Plan social media posts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) and play an instrumental role in refining and implementing social media strategy
• Prepare marketing materials using Photoshop and InDesign
• Spearhead research projects and brainstorm outside-the-box promotional strategies for upcoming titles
• General office assistance and projects assigned from other departments, including the editorial department

The intern is invited to participate in staff meetings and give opinions and ideas regarding potential new books and promotional strategies for existing ones. This part-time position also provides an opportunity to interact with the Penguin Random House sales team and members of the media.
Length of Internship: 6 months
Requirements: • Current college student or recent graduate in related field
• Excellent internet research skills
• High quality written and verbal communication
• Strong organization and ability to juggle multiple tasks
• Strong interest in PR/marketing, book publishing, and the arts; interest in illustrated books is a must
• Good computer skills, especially on a Mac; proficient in MS Office; familiarity with Photoshop and InDesign a plus
Location: New York, NY
