Company Name: MELVILLE HOUSE
Description: Melville House interns assist in all matters of the business, gaining a sense of how publishing works at a small, independent publishing house. Typical duties include mailings, database management, research, assisting with screening submissions, book promotion, proofreading, and general office tasks. Interns are also regularly invited to sit in on editorial, marketing, publicity, and production meetings. The program is an excellent introduction into the professional expectations and requirements of the publishing industry.
Length of Internship: Interns are expected to commit to 20 hours a week for the full term of the internship. The Fall program begins in early September and ends in December. The Spring program begins in January and runs through early May. Summer program begins in late May and ends in late August. Applicants should include in their cover letter all scheduling requirements and/or preferences.
Requirements: The internship position requires an individual who is responsible, professional, versatile, and game. Students and recent graduates should demonstrate an interest in and engagement with publishing, literature, or journalism in their coursework or extracurricular activity.

NOTE: This is an in-office position.
