• Assist in preparation for biannual sales conference and assembling sales kits and materials

Work hours are flexible between 9:30 and 6:30, Monday through Friday.

A hospitable, low-stress work environment. A great opportunity to gain hands-on publishing experience and contacts in the book publishing industry as well as an in-depth understanding of the publishing process, as practiced by an established independently owned and run publisher.
Length of Internship: Usually beginning sometime in June and runs through the end of August, subject to availability and start date. Exact start and end dates to be determined at time of hire. We ask for at least a 3-month time commitment.
Requirements: Prospective interns must have at least completed their sophomore year in college. We ideally seek a recent college graduate who is extremely curious, detail oriented, happy to work both independently and collaboratively, and who has superlative communication skills.

Candidates must have:

• Completed their sophomore year of college
• Some previous experience in Media Publicity and Marketing Communication useful, but not required
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communications skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task across activities and projects
• A strong interest in nonfiction publishing, especially in the areas in which The Experiment publishes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of HTML, Photoshop, and InDesign a plus

The Experiment, operated by its founder-proprietors, has been publishing books since September 2009. We are a collegial, extremely hard-working crew with offices near Gramercy Park in Manhattan. We are an equal opportunity employer.
Location: New York, NY
Application Due Date: We review applications on a rolling basis.
Payment: We offer a competitive hourly rate, or eligible applicants may receive school credit.
How To Apply For This Internship: Please email a cover letter and resume (as attachments, not in the body of the email) and at least one reference (with a phone number) to intern@theexperimentpublishing.com. Your cover letter may be addressed to Liana Willis and Grace Rambo (or “Internship Coordinators”) and should briefly describe your skills and interests, how you found out about the internship (i.e. where did you see it advertised), what you hope to gain from the internship, the days of the week you're available to intern, and your preferred start and end dates.

Appropriate candidates will be called for an interview. Applications submitted without a cover letter/e-mail will not be considered. Due to high application volume, only appropriate candidates will be contacted. Please no calls.
