About the internship
W. W. Norton is looking for interns to participate in our twelve-week internship program. Our internship program provides participants with an engaging, supportive, and hands-on learning experience in publishing that includes brown bag lunch sessions and networking within the intern class. Your work if you become a Norton intern with the Publicity team may include the following:
• Pitching ideas and assisting in developing new social media campaigns, strategies to grow community engagement, and expanding our audience
• Conceptualizing, creating, and executing TikTok content
• Working closely with senior members across departments to film, produce, and edit content, as well as natively in the TikTok app
• Understanding the brand personality and voice of the company, and translate that onto the TikTok platform
• Researching top-performing content and identifying emerging trends
• Learning how to capitalize on high-profile authors’ following and network of connections to maximize exposure and boost book sales
• Researching book-focused creators to maintain our influencer database

Internship details
• Interns are paid $16 per hour, subject to applicable law, and work a maximum of 20 hours weekly.
• Internship period is twelve weeks from 6/3/2024-8/23/2024.
• Our workday is 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time; specific work hours are flexible to accommodate an intern’s schedule.
• This internship will be in-person in our Manhattan offices
• Eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
Length of Internship: 12 weeks: 6/3-8/23, up to 20 hours per week

• You are a college junior, senior, recent graduate or someone looking to make a career change. based in the New York Metropolitan area
• You enjoy content creation and are well-versed in platform-specific social media and best practices
• You are an impeccable storyteller; you know how to capture attention and maintain it
• You have your finger on the pulse of what’s trending in the digital landscape, particularly regarding books and publishing-related content
• You are able to create engaging content that aligns with Norton’s brand, bring new ideas to the team, and thrive in a highly collaborative environment
• You are an excellent researcher and written/verbal communicator
• You are detail-oriented, organized, and skilled at project management
• Ideally, you have studied communications, marketing, or mass media and are hoping to gain valuable campaign management, publicity, and marketing experience within the book publishing industry
