Requirements: | Position Description:
Jacket and interior designer responsible for approximately 30 young adult and middle grade titles per year, published by the FSG BYR and Roaring Brook Press imprints. Major Responsibilities: • Create and execute arresting jacket and interior designs for young adult and middle grade fiction titles. • Present design concepts to editors and at jacket meetings. • Create interior design and type specifications for compositor. • Prepare files and approve proofs and other progress materials. • Collaborate and liaise effectively with creators, editors, and production and other in-house departments. Required Skills / Knowledge: Collaborative, versatile, and creative designer with: • A proven ability to envision and execute outstanding design. • Strong typographic skills (hand lettering is a plus) • Skilled at photo/art/illustrator research. • Thorough knowledge and experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and related applications. • A great attitude, team player mentality, and passion for books. Experience Needed: • A minimum of 5 years of work in the field Educational Background Required: • College level training at an accredited art school preferred, but not required |
