Company Name: W. W. NORTON & COMPANY
Description: W. W. Norton, the largest and oldest publishing house owned wholly by its employees, is seeking an intern in its College Biology department to assist the biology team from June to August. This internship will give you the opportunity to work on college biology textbooks, as well as the digital ancillaries that accompany them, such as Smartwork, Coursepacks and Test Banks, Lecture PowerPoints, and ebooks. You will gain experience in a number of editorial projects including, but not limited to, preparing manuscript for copyediting and production, cataloging and organizing print and digital assets, testing digital content and functionality, and researching market data. The internship will also offer insight into the marketing and sales aspects of textbook publishing.
Length of Internship: 3 months, 20 hours per week
Requirements: Ideal candidates will have an interest in learning more about college textbook and digital media publishing. Applicants should possess strong communication and research skills and be organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask and work independently in an office environment. Knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Office is required. A background or interest in biology is preferred but not required.

Specific work hours are flexible, but interns usually work 3 or 4 days per week for a total of 20 hours over a 3-month period.

Payment: $13/hour
